International Cooporation Initiative

Cooperation for home economics education in Asia

Between 2003 and 2006, the university participated in the project for the promotion of home economics education in developing countries initiated under the International Cooperation Initiative of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science, and Technology (represented by Prof. Kei Sasai, Department of Clothing, Faculty of Home Economics). This project aimed to create an educational model that will integrate home economics education and experiences of educational cooperation in Japan and apply them to developing countries. One of the goals of home economics education is that both men and women should take control of their lives, which we believe will raise awareness of gender equality and promote economic and social independence among women in developing countries.
